Job Summary: The Cerner Millennium EHR Analyst is responsible for supporting the implementation, optimization, and daily operations of the Cerner Millennium Electronic Health Record (EHR) system. This role involves configuring the system, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure the effective use of the EHR platform. Additionally, the Analyst will be involved in Application Maintenance and Support (AMS) activities, including Incident Management, Service Request Management, and Maintenance Tasks.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- System Configuration: Configure and customize the Cerner Millennium EHR system to align with the organization's specific needs and clinical workflows. This includes setting up templates, user interfaces, and other system components.
- User Support: Provide frontline support to clinical staff and end-users of the EHR system, addressing inquiries, issues, and user training needs.
- Quality Assurance: Maintain data integrity within the EHR system by ensuring that data is accurately captured and follows best practices. Implement quality control measures to verify the accuracy of data.
- Workflow Analysis: Collaborate with healthcare providers to analyze clinical workflows and identify areas for improvement. Work towards streamlining and optimizing processes using the EHR.
- Documentation: Maintain documentation of system configurations, changes, and issue resolutions. Ensure that documentation is readily available for reference and audits.
- Training: Provide training to clinical staff and end-users on how to effectively use the EHR system. Create training materials and conduct training sessions.
- Reporting and Analysis: Generate reports from the EHR system and analyze data to assess its performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Compliance and Regulatory Oversight: Ensure that EHR system usage complies with healthcare regulations and standards, including HIPAA and Meaningful Use (MIPS/MACRA).
- Collaboration: Collaborate with healthcare providers, administrators, and IT teams to understand their needs and challenges, and work to address them.
- Issue Resolution: Identify and troubleshoot issues related to the EHR system, working with senior analysts or IT teams to resolve problems and maintain system stability.
Application Maintenance and Support (AMS) Responsibilities:
- Incident Management: Monitor and respond to incidents related to the EHR system. Investigate and diagnose issues, implement solutions, and escalate complex problems to senior analysts or IT teams as necessary.
- Service Request Management: Handle service requests from end-users, including requests for system enhancements, configuration changes, and additional functionalities. Ensure timely and accurate fulfillment of service requests.
- Maintenance Tasks: Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure the stability and performance of the EHR system. This includes applying software updates, patches, and system optimizations.
- System Monitoring: Continuously monitor the EHR system for performance issues, security vulnerabilities, and other potential problems. Implement proactive measures to prevent system disruptions.
- Change Management: Assist in managing changes to the EHR system, including planning, testing, and implementing changes in a controlled manner to minimize impact on end-users.
- Root Cause Analysis: Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement long-term solutions to prevent future occurrences.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed records of incidents, service requests, maintenance tasks, and system changes. Ensure documentation is up-to-date and accessible for audits and reference.
- Bachelor's degree in healthcare informatics, healthcare administration, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience working with the Cerner Millennium EHR system or similar EHR platforms.
- Proficiency in at least two Cerner modules as listed above.
- Strong understanding of clinical workflows and healthcare operations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Ability to learn and adapt to new technologies and EHR platforms.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulations and compliance, including HIPAA.
- Customer service orientation and a willingness to work closely with clinical staff.
Additional Qualifications or Certifications:
- Certification in Cerner Millennium EHR system or specific Cerner modules.
- ITIL Foundation certification for understanding IT service management best practices.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification for managing EHR-related projects.
- Experience with SQL and data analysis tools for generating reports and analyzing EHR data.
- Familiarity with other EHR systems and interoperability standards (e.g., HL7, FHIR).
