New York University?s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a continuing contract (non-tenure track) Clinical Assistant Professor in Educational Communication and Technology (ECT) to begin on September 1, 2025. The appointed faculty member will be a member of the Department of Administration, Leadership and Technology (ALT).
The ECT programs include three graduate programs: an MA in Learning Technology and Experience Design (LTXD), an MS in Games for Learning (G4L), and a PhD in Educational Communication and Technology (ECT), as well as a planned undergraduate minor. Each program integrates cognitive and learning sciences, along with learning theory, to prepare students in the design, implementation and/or evaluation of educational tools across diverse settings, including K?12 schools, universities, workplaces, museums, nonprofits, and international educational contexts. Our programs are distinctive for their comprehensive focus on both design and research, as well as our commitment to experiential and project-based learning.
We seek applicants who are, above all, passionate about the field and bring strong teaching skills and experience. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate expertise, through professional experience and/or scholarly work, in one or more of the following areas: learning/cognitive science, learning experience design, emerging technologies and artificial intelligence (AI).

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher, advisor, and mentor to graduate and undergraduate students; participate in program and curricular development; and serve on program, department, School, and University committees. Clinical Faculty may also engage in scholarly work or creative production. The teaching load for this position is six (6) 3-point to 4-point courses, or their equivalent: three (3) each semester, Spring and Fall. Course load may be adjusted for administrative and related/equivalent duties.

In compliance with NYC?s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate?s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
Candidates should have a completed PhD by the start date, in a related discipline (learning sciences, educational technology, teaching and learning, human-computer interaction, computer science, information science, etc .) and ideally 5 years of experience teaching and/or relevant industry/job experience.
