Division of Gaming:
Ensures that limited gaming is conducted honestly, fairly, and competitively, and is free from criminal and corrupt elements.
What we do:
A typical day as a Criminal Investigator III: Perform as a peace officer to investigate and enforce the Colorado Limited Gaming Act of 1991, and the Colorado Revised Criminal Statutes, and conduct comprehensive background and pre-licensing investigations. This position plans and conducts investigations of violations of limited gaming and criminal laws. Investigators use and interpret the Colorado Limited Gaming Statutes, Regulations, and Internal Control Minimum Procedures. Additionally, this Criminal Investigator position conducts investigations of criminal code and administrative violations. As such, this investigator conducts complex investigations that require the handling and analysis of financial records and document-heavy cases. This position is also tasked with providing training, education, and outreach to stakeholders ( Local Licensing Authorities, Law Enforcement agencies, and Licensees). Provides information regarding the rules, regulations, and laws governing the industry to licensees, law enforcement agencies, and any other persons requesting information. Assist licensees with information to correct any identified issues.

Six (6) years of relevant experience in investigative experience conducting both criminal and regulatory investigations.
OR
Education and Experience:A combination of related education in business administration, public administration, criminology, criminal justice, criminalistics, political science, police science, law enforcement, law, psychology, sociology, formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in experience conducting both criminal and regulatory investigations equal to six (6) years

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty, integrity, and public confidence.
As a condition of employment with the CDOR, all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations, therefore all employees must undergo a pre-employment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
