Position Overview: The Curator provides specialized curatorial support for historical displays, exhibitions, artifact collections, and heritage programs aligned with the National Guard Bureau's history and heritage objectives.
Qualifications: - Master’s degree in History, Archaeology, Conservation, Historic Preservation, or Museum Studies.
- Minimum of one year of curatorial experience at a GS-12 or equivalent performance level.
- Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign or equivalent graphics experience.
Key Responsibilities: - Design, install, and maintain historical exhibits and displays meeting American Alliance of Museums standards.
- Manage and curate the National Guard Bureau Art and Artifact Collection, ensuring adherence to preservation standards.
- Provide administrative, instructional, and informational support to state, territory, and district National Guard entities.
- Develop and deliver history and heritage-related educational classes, presentations, briefings, and training sessions.
- Execute special heritage projects including pamphlets, brochures, and exhibit displays.
Required Skills: - Advanced knowledge of curatorial practices and museum standards.
- Graphic design and exhibit development skills.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and communication skills.
- Ability to effectively collaborate with government and military personnel.
Security Clearance: - SECRET clearance required
