Job Title: Solutions Analyst

Location: 500 Rutherford Ave, Suite 210, Charlestown, MA 02129

Hybrid Work Arrangement: After 90 calendar days on-site, candidate may be approved for a hybrid schedule (2-3 days in office, 2-3 days remote).

Engagement Length: Through 12/31/2025 (Renewable)

Hours Per Week: 37.5 hours/week (7.5 hours/day)

Work Schedule: Monday Friday with flexible start times; options include 8 AM 4 PM, 9 AM 5 PM, or similar.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Solutions Analyst to join its Application and Data Services Unit within the IT Division. This contract role supports data-driven decision-making and system enhancements through SQL development, Power BI reporting, and stakeholder collaboration. The ideal candidate has a well-rounded skill set in business analysis, data modeling, and software testing, with the potential for full-time conversion within 6 12 months.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and troubleshoot complex SQL queries in PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• Build and maintain Power BI dashboards and data models to support reporting and analysis.
• Conduct software testing (functional, regression, UAT); report bugs and track resolutions.
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements from stakeholders.
• Investigate and resolve data inconsistencies in reports and applications.
• Collaborate with business users, vendors, and IT teams to enhance application performance.
• Serve as a liaison to help resolve system issues related to the MyTRS platform.
• Manage relevant help desk tickets and ensure timely resolution.
• Participate in daily huddles, planning meetings, and project-related discussions.
• Assist in automating manual processes and contributing to system improvements.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or a related field.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience writing SQL queries using PostgreSQL and Oracle.
• 3+ years of experience with Power BI, including dashboards, reports, and data modeling.
• 3+ years of software testing experience (functional, regression, and UAT).
• Proven ability to work cross-functionally and communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Excellent problem-solving and data validation skills.
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication abilities.

Evaluation Criteria (Skills Assessment)

SQL Query Writing (PostgreSQL & Oracle):

• Expected to have 3+ years of hands-on experience in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Should demonstrate capability in data extraction and generating reports using both PostgreSQL and Oracle databases.

Power BI:

• Proficient in designing and building dashboards.
• Capable of creating data models and delivering insightful visual reports.

Software Testing:

• Experienced in creating and executing test plans.
• Familiar with defect tracking and management through the software development lifecycle.

Business Analysis & Communication:

• Skilled in translating business needs into clear, actionable technical requirements.
• Strong ability to facilitate communication between business stakeholders and technical teams.

Problem Solving & Data Validation:

• Proven track record of identifying and resolving data and process issues.
• Ability to propose and implement effective improvements to enhance system accuracy and efficiency.
