Job Description

Job Summary:

The Senior Sales Director will oversee the Sales, Event Planning, Registration and Marketing and will be responsible for driving the camp's growth through effective sales strategies, innovative event planning, and comprehensive marketing initiatives. This role involves leading a dynamic team, promoting the camp's mission and values, and ensuring exceptional guest experiences. Working with other departments to provide outstanding customer service that will inspire guests to return to Camp Kulaqua to experience an atmosphere that draws them closer to God the Creator, and one another.


Skills, Education, and Experience Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, marketing, hospitality management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in sales, event planning, or marketing, preferably in a camp, retreat center, or similar environment.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing principles and practices.
  • Bilingual in Spanish (preferred)
  • Experience in sales, registration and event planning software


Job Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management
    • Unit, lead, train, and mentor the sales, event planning, registration and marketing teams to ensure high performance and professional development.
    • Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the department.
    • Conduct regular team meetings to review performance metrics, provide updates, and address any operational issues.
  • Sales and Revenue Generation
    • Coordinate all reservations for Camp Kulaqua and its various entities (i.e. Stillwaters Lodge, River Ranch, etc.)
    • Maximize occupancy goals as set forth by the Executive Director
    • Design and maintain all application and contracts in coordination with Executive Director
    • Coordinate with Executive Director on all legal contracts
    • Develop and execute sales strategies to attract new groups, and events to the camp.
    • Identify and cultivate relationships with current clients, church groups, and community organizations.
    • Monitor sales performance and adjust strategies to meet or exceed revenue targets.
  • Event Planning and Coordination
    • Oversee the planning and communicate to operations details of events, retreats, and special programs, ensuring they align with the camp's mission and values.
    • Work closely with clients to understand their needs and deliver customized event solutions.
    • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless event operations and exceptional guest experiences.
  • Registration Management:
    • Develop and manage an efficient registration system for camp events and programs.
    • Monitor registration numbers and provide updates to relevant stakeholders.
    • Address registration inquiries and resolve any issues promptly.
    • Maintain accurate records of attendees and provide post-event reports.
  • Marketing and Promotion
    • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans to promote the camp's programs, events, and services.
    • Manage the creation of marketing materials, including brochures, flyers, website content, and social media posts.
    • Plan and execute marketing campaigns to increase visibility and attract groups to camp.
  • Community Outreach and Engagement
    • Represent the camp at community events to build relationships and promote the camp.
    • Develop partnerships with local organizations, schools, and churches to enhance community engagement.
    • Foster a positive image of the camp within the community.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Prepare and present to Administrative team regular reports on sales performance, event outcomes, and marketing effectiveness.
    • Conduct analysis of data to identify trends, opportunities for growth, and areas for improvement.
    • Maintain accurate records of all departmental activities and transactions for audit and reporting purposes.
    • Additional Requirements:

      Must be able to work in a fast-paced and customer service-oriented environment; to perform duties under pressure and meet deadlines in a timely manner; to work as part of a team as well as to complete assignments independently; to take instructions from supervisors; to exercise problem-solving skills; and to interact with co-workers, supervisors, guests and the public in a professional and pleasant manner.

      Must be able to deal tactfully and effectively with guests, must remain calm under pressure and exhibit courtesy, diplomacy and kindness, both in person and through other communication avenues.
