Are you a detail-oriented professional with a passion for ensuring accurate and efficient medical record management? We're seeking a dedicated Medical Records Specialist to join our team and play a vital role in supporting patient care. In this role, you'll be responsible for the timely and accurate processing of medical record requests, ensuring seamless access to critical patient information.
What You'll Do:
Medical Record Requests:
Proactively manage and prioritize medical record requests, ensuring timely fulfillment.
Utilize efficient work organization techniques, including grouping tasks within work queues and across patient histories, particularly related to transplant testing.
Communicate effectively with internal team members, healthcare providers, patients, and insurance companies to clarify requests and ensure complete record acquisition.
Leverage technology and your knowledge of medical and claims terminology to streamline processes and minimize administrative burdens.
Diligently follow up on outstanding requests, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve timely resolution.
Medical Record Processing:
Utilize specialized software to analyze and accurately associate large volumes of patient medical records with specific test orders.
Collaborate with supervisors and team members to effectively manage work queues and maintain compliance with established policies and procedures.
Analyze and resolve discrepancies related to medical necessity, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
Perform other duties as assigned.
What We're Looking For:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical billing or medical records.
Strong understanding of patient privacy regulations under HIPAA and the proper handling of protected health information (PHI).
Working knowledge of insurance policies, billing procedures, and claims terminology.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
High aptitude for learning and utilizing software applications, including proficiency in hotkeys and shortcuts.
Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Preference given to candidates with experience using laboratory billing software such as Telcor, Xifin, Quadax, or Epic.
Work Environment:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, with occasional overtime as needed.
For candidates residing within commuting distance of the Brisbane, California office, regular on-site presence is required.
