About Our Client:

Our client is a healthcare organization seeking a skilled Orthopedic Coder to support their coding team. This role focuses on reviewing and ensuring accuracy for Orthopedic E/M and in-office procedures, including fracture care, injections, minor office procedures, and X-rays.

Job Description:

This is a contract-to-hire position responsible for reviewing provider-submitted codes, ensuring documentation supports coding, and capturing any missed charges. Coders will also interpret payor guidelines and use internal systems such as EPIC and Codify.

Key Responsibilities:

• Review Orthopedic E/M and in-office procedure charts (injections, minor procedures, X-rays).
• Ensure codes match documentation; recommend changes or add codes as needed.
• Capture charges when providers do not drop them.
• Apply knowledge of global surgery periods, global modifiers, modifier 58, fracture care, and payor guidelines (Medicare, LCDs, articles).
• Maintain productivity of 100 encounters per day with 90% accuracy.
• Adapt to shifting priorities and maintain strong communication.
• Onsite equipment pickup required (ideal 2 days if local; remote possible if further away).

Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Orthopedic coding, including fracture care and injections.
• Understanding of global surgery periods and modifiers (modifier 58, etc.).
• Experience with EPIC and Codify.
• Reliable, adaptable, and strong communication skills.
• Certification: AHIMA or AAPC.

Additional Details:

• Hours: Monday–Friday, daytime, starting as early as 8 am CST; 8-hour shifts.
• Number of Openings: 1.
