Overview:

The Peer Coach will provide non-clinical peer support services intended to aid patients and individuals in establishing and maintaining recovery from substance use disorders. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the Peer Coach will provide ongoing motivation to encourage patients to change their substance use behavior and offer support to enhance self-management abilities. This position is designed to work with key individuals, groups, and families. Primary job focus will include collaborating on outreach location expansion, facilitating a virtual support group, and engaging with patients and individuals in the community as part of Beebe’s Mobile Outreach Team.

Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a liaison with community sites of focus to coordinate the expansion of community-based mobile behavioral health and peer services for key populations.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with key stakeholders, including patients, families, service providers, and community organizations to optimize engagement and referral supports.
  • Coordinate with Mobile Outreach and Peer Coordinator through established processes for community-based services.
  • Collaborate with team to develop innovative approaches for engaging at-risk individuals, their families, and those who may be able to intervene to prevent harm.
  • Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary team to identify readiness to change, engage motivational interviewing techniques, create personalized recovery plans, and support successful connection to referred services.
  • Provide education on harm reduction initiatives and approaches.
  • Ensure data collection is completed for outreach events.
  • Ensure supplies are available for events and inventory needs are communicated appropriately.
  • Coordinate the development of focused outreach materials for patients and the community to educate and support understanding of services.
  • Collaborate with Peer colleagues to establish and facilitate a focused recovery support group.
  • Possess strong knowledge of, and lived experience with, navigating peer resources from organizations such as CAMP, PFLAG, Sussex Pride, and similarly focused organizations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of best practices in mental and behavioral health for key populations.
  • Adhere to HIPPA requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, and professional development opportunities.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
  • Exhibit independent professional judgement within boundaries of role and the ability to consult and engage with other team members for improved patient outcomes.
  • Ability and willingness to self-motivate, prioritize, and adapt processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Ability to establish positive, supportive, and trusting relationships with individuals in recovery and their family members.
  • Ability to travel for community-based work with a valid Delaware driver’s license and access to an insured motor vehicle.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
  • Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within a team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English. Proficiency in Spanish preferred but not required.
Credentials:
  • Certification as a Peer Coach (preferred)
Education:
  • High School Diploma/GED
Other Information:

Essential:

  • Lived SUD experience
  • 2 or more years of continuous recovery
  • Knowledge of recovery support resources available in county and state
  • Knowledge of resources available through organizations such as CAMP, PFLAG, and Sussex Pride

Preferred:

  • Previous experience facilitating recovery support groups
  • Previous experience as a Peer Coach
  • Experience with electronic medical record systems
Entry: USD $18.00/Hr. Expert: USD $27.90/Hr.
