DESCRIPTION

The Radiation Therapy Supervisor oversees clinical radiation therapy staff, onsite administrative personnel, and daily operations within the MOP Radiation Therapy department. Reporting to the Department Director, this role ensures that all radiation treatments, including external beam and brachytherapy, are administered effectively and in compliance with established protocols. The supervisor monitors staff productivity, enforces policies and procedures, and resolves or escalates clinical, technical, and human resource issues as needed. They also manage staffing levels, coordinate department work schedules, and review treatment assignments to optimize workflow and ensure the appropriate utilization of personnel.

In addition to operational oversight, the supervisor is responsible for quality assurance, compliance, and staff development. They conduct random inspections of simulation and treatment rooms, review treatment protocols, and implement quality improvement initiatives. Ensuring adherence to safety regulations and licensing requirements, they assist in the development and maintenance of procedural and technical policy manuals while recommending process improvements. The supervisor also administers staff training and orientation programs, participates in hiring and performance evaluations, and makes recommendations regarding staffing and budgeting to support department efficiency. Other duties may be assigned as needed to align with departmental goals.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a graduate of an AMA, JCERT approved School of Radiation Therapy.

  • Five (5) or more years of relevant experience.

  • RT(T) ARRT licensure.

  • In-depth knowledge of radiotherapy treatment procedures and simulations.

  • In-depth knowledge of radiotherapy equipment and information systems, in order to operate and monitor all relevant technology.

  • Skills to diagnose and troubleshoot equipment issues and software malfunctions. Demonstrated ability to solve problems and suggest solutions within defined procedures and policies.

  • Demonstrated leadership skills in training and guiding employees with radiotherapy treatments.

  • Verbal and written communication skills to explain technical radiotherapy concepts, actively listen, persuade, advise, and counsel.

  • Ability to organize assigned staff and department operations in an efficient and effective manner. Skills to coordinate schedules and serve patients in a timely manner.

  • Ability to develop and maintain cooperative working relationships with physicians, therapists, technical assistants, and other staff. Interpersonal skills to work with a diverse patient population and show sensitivity.

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively to meet deadlines in a complex, challenging environment.

  • Strong knowledge of relevant medical center, HR and UC policies and processes. Knowledge and ability to monitor compliance with relevant internal policies and external regulations.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years+ at senior level RTT or above title position.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  • Must be able to work various hours and locations based on business needs.
  • May float occasionally to La Jolla and Encinitas locations as coverage is needed.

Pay Transparency Act

Annual Full Pay Range: $116,000 - $224,200 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

Hourly Equivalent: $55.56 - $107.38

Factors in determining the appropriate compensation for a role include experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs. The Hiring Pay Scale referenced in the job posting is the budgeted salary or hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position. The Annual Full Pay Range may be broader than what the University anticipates to pay for this position, based on internal equity, budget, and collective bargaining agreements (when applicable).
