Job Description
Position Summary: The Staff Project Accountant is primarily responsible for development and project accounting of our horizontal and vertical construction projects.
Duties, Responsibilities and Focus :
- Maintenance of Construction Accounting, including job cost codification, contract tracking, and general ledger and subledger reconciliation
- Vendor reconciliations, vendor analytics, and monthly invoice tracking
- Contract maintenance, review, and reconciliation
- Commit to close timelines and aid in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closes
- Actively review and update invoice codification initiated by A/P team
- Produce job cost management reports to internal managers
- Assist in various G/L reconciliations, including intercompany, cash, work-in-progress, etc.
- Assists in preparation of ad hoc accounting and finance reports as necessary
- Maintain an orderly electronic filing system
- Provides company financial management information as appropriate or requested to the Controller, Director of Finance, Chief Financial Officer, Executive Management Team, and Founders/Investors
- Attends company-wide and departmental training meetings as applicable
- Assist with audit and tax requests
Classification: Education, Experience, Skills Required: - Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field preferred.
- 4+ years of experience may substitute education.
- Staff Accountant: can be entry level or experienced.
- Experience with job costing and project accounting is highly preferred
- Experience with accounting software is preferred.
- Yardi experience is a plus.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel knowledge preferred
- Proficient in data entry and time management
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
- Communication skills - ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and similar software.
Physical Requirements: Must have the ability to:
- Read/write (English) and communicate verbally and effectively with necessary parties
- Give and/or follow verbal and written instructions.
- Sit for several hours at a time.
- Perform basic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages.
- Retrieve, read and interpret information from technical sources.
- Lift up to 15 lbs at times.
This is an onsite position which may evolve to a hybrid work environment based on future growth and the specific skillset of the candidate.
